Downloading Bethesda mods from Older Game Versions

The 2024 game update made it impossible to for some people to download Bethesda mods with an older version of the game. Some people don't want to upgrade until all the F4SE mods they use are updated for the NG version.

Tl;DR Directions

  1. First try to download through Mods menu like normal. If you get operation error see below and follow those instructions. If the menu is greyed out you probably have an outdated UI mod you may need to temporarily uninstall. If you still can't download you may need to update the game, carry on at #2.
  2. Update the game
  3. Use new profile on your mod manager with no mods installed to access Bethnet
  4. If you get "Operation could not be completed" error see below.
  5. Download all mods you want
  6. Use the downgrade tool to go back to previous version of game
